 FAQS

What will coaching do for me?

Imagine if you had someone working for YOU making sure that you weren’t wasting time in training. Someone who takes the hassle out of planning and progressing your program in a way that builds strength, fitness and speed in all disciplines so that you know you are ready for your big race. Imagine if you had a team of coaches you could easily bounce questions to that help you get to the right answers straight away and make quick and clear decisions. We want you to learn, grow get better. Having a coach and being part of our team means you can draw from us all, get tons of support and motivation.

Why is coaching better than a training plan?

We aren’t a big fan of generic programs. They aren’t specific enough to the athlete and can often miss the mark under or overreaching Triathletes in training. More often than not we see athletes who follow plans get bored or worse injured. With a coach by your side when you hit roadblocks or get a niggle we can advise on the right course of action and change training quickly so that you are still moving forward. A dry program fails in this area.

What level of triathletes do we coach?

We coach athletes of all levels from pro to age grouper. The main quality we are looking for from athletes is commitment. For instance, Ryan came to us never having completed a triathlon and could only swim 200 meters without stopping. After a year of consistent training, he completed his first Ironman swimming 66 minutes and finishing in just under 11 hours 30 minutes.

Do we provide Female only coaching?

Yes we do. It’s something that we wanted to offer as a company to encourage more women to take up the sport. Laura Addie runs our female only coaching service. The great thing is you get all the usual support and perks from our coaching service plus you have a ladies-only watts app group to discuss the more personal aspects to talk freely with our other female members.

What’s it like to be part of the Tri Force Team?.

Our aim is always to keep the training meaningful and build that team spirit. Over lock down the Team enjoyed some of the socially distanced events we held. We put together zwift meetups held by the coaches, set up lockdown half marathon’s where we all ran out the door at the same time on the same day and raced a Tri Force 70.3 weekend.

What binds us all together is our athletes only Facebook group. This is a forum for our athletes to ask questions about anything triathlon related, learn about things like gear ratios, run technique, strength training principles, nutrition and race fuelling. We write a lot of evidence-based posts, hold live seminars and we have a bit of fun in there too. It’s a great way to stay connected no matter where you are in the world.

What’s one piece of advice you’d give a Triathlete?

Be consistent and specific. Ok, so that’s two bits of advice! Training doesn’t need to be fancy but it does need to be specific to your end goal where athletes need to be consistent in their training if they want to see good results. If you’ve entered a hilly race some of your training needs to be on hills. If you’ve entered a sprint triathlon think about adding in more speed work over each discipline rather than longer slower miles. Or conversely, if you are competing in Ironman you have to get the distance in on the bike and runs to develop durability, understand pacing and fuelling.
